Here’s Some Laptops That Bridge Work And Play Without Breaking The Bank
Buying and finding laptops are always a tough call, especially if you’re on a limited budget and you need to maximize your budget to squeeze out every morsel of performance you can get for the tasks that you’re demanded to do.
We’re here to take a look at some great choices from MSI that PC Image Malaysia is having a sale on, and we feel that they’ve picked out pretty good models for those looking to choose between work and play.
From now until 26th February 2023, PC Image’s Monsoon Storm Sales brings up to RM 300 in savings over the following models, with an attractive starting point of just RM 1899.
The MSI THIN GF63 is a thin and light gaming laptop that’s able to take care of multimedia work and some light gaming easily. It packs a still relevant and powerful 11th Gen Core i5 11400H with 12 threads and 6 cores that’s definitely capable of good multitasking and playing just about any title on 60 FPS. You can also get some good power management too, since the panel is 60Hz. This makes it less demanding on the battery since higher refresh rates draw more power from pushing the CPU and GPU to render frames faster.
This model is also factually one of the most battery efficient, compared to other manufacturers that more or less pack the same specs. It’s also pretty light and portable, weighing just slightly over 2KG with a thinness of just 21.7mm. It’s not as thick as most gaming laptops and you can slot this into lighter bags without breaking a sweat.
The dedicated GTX1650 packs more than enough power to take care of even 4K video editing, and will definitely play a good role in rendering your videos out faster since it’s a dedicated graphics card. You’ll also be able to handle games like Apex Legends, Valorant and Fortnite, reaching 60 FPS on medium-high settings.

This is the best deal for me for a gaming machine. For and extra RM 300 over the base model, you get essential upgrades that significantly impacts game performance, multitasking and accessibility. You’ll get a 144Hz IPS display that’s backed up by an RTX3050, which can definitely push those frames higher than the GTX1650 and with more stability.
This is also a good option for those looking for a more efficient workflow, considering that it comes with Thunderbolt 4 port that supports display output as well as faster file transfers as long as you have compatible external storage.
The alternative USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C supports display output as well, on top of power delivery for charging and even G-SYNC, which means you can connect this to an external gaming monitor and enjoy high refresh rates on a bigger screen.
There’s just too many upgrades here over the base Thin, making this my most recommended model for those looking for a long lasting gaming laptop.
This Modern 14, although just coming with a basic 11th Gen Core i3, can still pack a mean punch for office work. It’s great for those looking to pack light, without having to worry about underpowered performance, as this dual core processor is still capable of handling plenty of open apps without much stress. RAM is also upgradeable if you’re task-heavy, especially if you’d like to edit some small videos or simple graphics on the go. The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics chip is definitely able to handle it, especially without draining the battery quickly like how a dedicated graphics card would.
