Sime Darby Motors Records Over 1,300 BYD SEAL Bookings in 4 Days Since Launch

At the recent launch of BYD SEAL at The Exchange TRX, Sime Darby Motors (SDM) and BYD Malaysia saw the electric vehicle model amass over 1,300 bookings within 4 days. Due to the overwhelming demand for the electric sedan, SDM is excited to announce the extension of its early booking campaign until 3 March 2024. Customers who place a booking for the BYD SEAL through the official website or at nationwide showrooms before the end of 3 March will receive complimentary home chargers and free Gentari or ChargEV charging credits worth RM800.

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, SDM, said, “The response from Malaysians clearly demonstrates their readiness to embrace electric vehicles (EVs) from BYD, which continues to make waves here and in other parts of the region. This achievement also marks another milestone in the robust evolution of the country’s EV market.”

According to Gan, BYD SEAL has received positive feedback from car enthusiasts. “The new model has been widely recognised for its superior quality and exceptional performance, coupled with a highly competitive pricing strategy. Furthermore, with the comprehensive BYD network coverage across all regions, ensuring excellent service for all customers, it underscores our customers’ confidence in BYD’s products in Malaysia. This reaffirms our commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality vehicles and unparalleled customer service.”

“Thanks to the strong demand for BYD SEAL, we are extending our early bird offer, allowing even more customers to take advantage of our exceptional value proposition. Together with BYD, SDM aims to continue setting the benchmark for excellence in the EV sector and industry at large, and further stimulate the EV appeal among Malaysians nationwide.”

The BYD SEAL is available in RWD Premium and Performance AWD, priced from RM179,800 and RM199,800, respectively. It offers a variety of colours such as Arctic Blue (exclusive to the Performance variant), Cosmos Black, Atlantis Grey, and Aurora White (for the Premium model).

Boasting state-of-the-art features, this EV provides an impressive battery range of up to 650km, ensuring extended journeys with minimal charging stops. Utilising BYD’s advanced e-platform 3.0 technology, the high-performance EV combines intelligence, efficiency, and unparalleled safety features.

Mr. Calvin Poh, one of the customers who not only participated in the test drive but also proceeded to place a booking, shared his experience, “The BYD SEAL design was very appealing, compared to electric sedans of the same price range. The build quality and the interior were very impressive and premium. The driving experience during the test drive was so quiet and refined that I decided afterwards this is the EV that I want to buy.”
