Design

The LG 27GR95QE-B boasts a sleek and modern design that complements any gaming setup. Its slim bezels maximize screen space and create an immersive viewing experience. The monitor’s stand is sturdy and adjustable, allowing users to tilt, swivel, and pivot the display to their preferred position.

The back features a uniquely patterned hexagon shape, with dual lightstrips that’s customizable from the Ultragear settings on the remote control and nagivating to hexagon lighting settings. The shell of this hexagon case is also uniquely patterned, with mini quad hexagon lines that gives it a slightly rough touch. I personally like this because it’s actually hard to smudge it with my fingerprints so this design language definitely gets the green check for me.

How Do I Control It?

Well, the setup is simple and straightforward. The monitor itself only has a single power button, so navigation is simplified into this here controller. The controller is easy to get accustomed to, providing the basics such as adjusting brightness, selecting input channel and volume control. You can even configure DTS Headphone X settings, such as choosing what kind of audio profile you’d like to be on to suit your content.

The settings button (the gear right below mute) opens up the Ultragear Dashboard which will let you configure more technical settings such as VRR (variable refresh rate), color temperature, sharpness, contrast and Game Modes. These have a direct impact to how your final picture quality will turn out, thus I feel that LG has given me plenty of customization to choose from, complete with presets incase I feel lazy to customize my own from scratch.

Viewing Angles

The LG 27GR95QE-B utilizes an OLED panel, renowned for its exceptional viewing angles. Colors remain consistent and accurate even when viewed from extreme angles, making it ideal for both gaming and content creation. It’s also generally just a regular uncurved monitor so many can get accustomed to this, especially if you’re not a fan of the curve approach.

Picture Quality and Motion

OLED technology shines in the LG 27GR95QE-B, producing stunning picture quality with infinite contrast and perfect blacks. Colors are vibrant and accurate, creating an immersive visual experience. HDR support further enhances the picture quality, delivering even brighter highlights and richer details. Do take note that the color depth is only 8-bit, which really doesn’t affect you unless you intend to edit actual films where you’ll need more coverage on color tones, which is where 10-bit comes in.

Do I Have To Worry About Pixel Burn-In?

Of course, no OLED monitor on the planet is free from such an issue, and the LG 27GR95QE-B is no exception. However, to combat this, LG has impletemed a dedicated OLED Care section to slow down the burn-in process. You can use features such as Screen Move, which will make the screen move at preset intervals to prevent image sticking on the display panel. Screen Saver is enabled by default, and it will simply turn off the screen after a period of inactivity on the screen.

Image and Pixel Cleaning will start screen restoration, which will recalibrate the display to provide the clearest picture. Image Cleaning will take up to a minute, while Pixel Cleaning takes up to 10 minutes.

With a 240Hz refresh rate and G-Sync compatibility, the LG 27GR95QE-B delivers exceptional motion clarity and eliminates screen tearing. Gamers can enjoy smooth and responsive gameplay, even in fast-paced action sequences.

The inputs gives this monitor incredible flexibility in terms of resolution and refresh rate. It’s both gaming console and gaming PC ready, with a DisplayPort 1.4 and 2 HDMI 2.1’s on top of one another. You could essentially use this monitor for both your PS5 and PC and you’ll be able to get up to an upscaled 4K 120Hz on both devices.

Inputs

The LG 27GR95QE-B is well-equipped with various connectivity options, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, and two USB 3.0 ports. It also features several gamer-friendly features, such as a built-in crosshair, black stabilizer, and response time optimizer. There’s also a cerified DTS Headphone X port at the bottom, which allowed me to plug in my headphones and experience emulated surround sound. There’s no speaker built into the monitor so at least LG made a concious decision to give a port of high quality for my own audio devices.

That being said, gaming sound fun, the bass was punchy with each bullet having its own light thump, whereas for movies it was just okay. It’s loud and the tones were mostly neutral / flat, so it’s actually better than a lot of monitors out there since most companies wouldn’t pay much attention to that.

There’s also USB upstreaming, the blue squarish port next to the USB’s. The monitor can allow you to connect additional peripherals / controllers using that connection to your system. You plug the upstream port to your PC and you can use the remaining 2 USB-A’s to connect your mouse and keyboard. It’s a standard feature on most gaming monitors these days and it worked flawlessly so it’s more of a bonus issue than something to shout home about.

The Verdict

The LG 27GR95QE-B is a top-tier gaming monitor that offers exceptional picture quality, smooth motion, and a wide range of gamer-friendly features. While its high price tag may deter some, those seeking the ultimate in gaming performance will find it a worthwhile investment. With an initial ask of RM 4499 that’s reduced to RM 3899, it’s never a better time to pick up an OLED monitor that’s under 4K that’ll provide you with the high-demands needed for both console and PC gaming.

With display qualification being done within the monitor itself and configured using a convenient remote, the LG 27GR95QE-B is a gaming monitor anyone can get behind if they’re looking for one of the best panels and features in the market.
