Samsung Electronics today announced the Galaxy Z Fold7, the latest addition to its foldable smartphone series, designed to offer a premium and highly intelligent user experience in its thinnest and lightest form yet.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 aims to redefine smartphone capabilities by combining advanced design, camera features, and AI innovations. TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics, stated that the Galaxy Z Fold7 integrates Galaxy AI with powerful hardware to deliver their most advanced smartphone experience to date, emphasizing the blend of design, engineering, and AI specifically for the foldable form factor.
Ultra-Sleek Design and Expansive Display
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is engineered for portability and comfort, weighing just 215 grams, making it lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. When folded, it’s a mere 8.9 mm thick, and an impressive 4.2 mm when unfolded. It features a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x cover display with a new 21:9 aspect ratio, offering a wider screen for effortless typing and Browse.
Unfolded, the device transforms into an expansive 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x main display, which is 11% larger than the previous generation. This larger screen provides ample space for multitasking, content editing, and immersive viewing. The display also boasts Vision Booster and up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness for clear visibility even in direct sunlight.
Built for Durability
Despite its thin and light profile, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is built for durability. It features a restructured hinge and foldable display designed to withstand daily use. The new Armor FlexHinge is thinner and lighter, utilizing an enhanced water droplet design and a multi-rail structure to reduce visible creasing and enhance durability.
The cover display is protected by Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2, which has intricately embedded crystals to enhance durability and crack deflection. The frame and hinge housing are reinforced with Advanced Armor Aluminum, increasing strength and hardness by 10%. The main display is also re-engineered to be thinner, lighter, and stronger with a Titanium plate layer and 50% thicker Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG).
Powerful Performance and Advanced Camera System
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, custom-tuned for Galaxy devices. This processor delivers significant performance boosts, including a 41% increase in NPU, 38% in CPU, and 26% in GPU compared to the previous generation, enabling faster and more seamless on-device AI processing tasks like real-time language translation and Generative Edits.
The device introduces a 200MP wide-angle camera to the Galaxy Z series, capturing four times more detail and producing images that are 44% brighter. It also includes a 10MP 100° camera on the main display for wider group selfies and expansive shots. Samsung’s next-generation ProVisual Engine processes images faster for crisper and more vibrant photos and videos. Features like Night Video with intelligent motion detection reduce noise in low-light settings, and 10-bit HDR provides richer color depth for videos.
AI-Powered Creative Editing
The Galaxy Z Fold7 offers a suite of AI-powered editing tools optimized for its large display. Users can easily refine photos and videos with features like Photo Assist, which allows moving, erasing, or enlarging objects and adjusting angles and backgrounds with AI precision. Portrait Studio enables vibrant expressions, and the enhanced Generative Edit offers proactive suggestions with the new Suggest Erases feature, automatically detecting passersby. Side-by-Side Editing and Show Original allow for real-time comparison of original and edited images. The upgraded Audio Eraser now proactively detects and removes unwanted background noise from video recordings.
Enhanced AI Experience with One UI 8
Launching with the all-new One UI 8 on Android 16, the Galaxy Z Fold7 leverages its foldable display to enhance AI experiences, making them more intuitive and efficient. One UI 8 acts as a multimodal agent, seamlessly combining large-screen multitasking with intelligent tools that understand user input.
New AI features include:
- Gemini Live: Enhanced with multimodal AI that understands visual, auditory, and user actions, allowing for seamless contextual questions and answers without switching apps. Screen and camera sharing on Gemini Live enable instant insights by showing Gemini what you are looking at.
- Circle to Search: Provides instant gaming tips, results, or tactics in a floating view by simply circling an item on the screen.
- AI Results View: Displays AI feature results in a separate Split View or Floating View, keeping original content visible.
- Drag & Drop: Allows users to efficiently move AI-generated content, including images and text, directly from Multi Window.
- Drawing Assist or Writing Assist: Facilitates easier movement of ideas and visuals for a smoother creative process.
Future-Ready Mobile Security
Samsung is bolstering mobile security with new protections for on-device AI, expanded cross-device threat detection, and enhanced network security with quantum-resistant encryption. One UI 8 introduces Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), which creates encrypted, app-specific storage environments. Samsung is also advancing Knox Matrix for proactive protection across the Galaxy ecosystem and integrating post-quantum cryptography into Secure Wi-Fi for robust privacy over public networks.
Availability
The Galaxy Z Fold7 will be available for pre-order in Malaysia starting July 9, 2025, at 10 PM (Malaysia Time) until July 31, 2025. General availability begins on August 1, 2025.
It will be offered in several colors: Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jetblack, and an online-exclusive Mint.
