POCO has announced its two new smartphones to celebrate its fifth anniversary, the POCO X5 Pro 5G and POCO X5 5G. The X5 Pro 5G features upgraded camera functions and faster processing speeds while the X5 5G rounds off with a strong performance and a 5000mAh battery.
Slimmer Than Ever
The X5-series features a 6.67” screen, with a Flow AMOLED screen for the X5 Pro 5G and X5 Pro 5G for the X5 5G. The X5 Pro 5G’s flexible display results in an overall thinner and lighter smartphone with half the thickness of traditional OLED panels. At 7.9mm thin, it is now the slimmest X-series device.

The X5-series’ 120Hz refresh rate pledges to deliver bright, vibrant, ultra-smooth images, making photos and videos come to life with their 100% DCI-P3 wide colour gamut.
With Dolby Vision and 10-bit colour depth, the POCO X5 Pro 5G now features a 1.07 billion colour palette compared to standard 8-bit screens.
To address pesky low-frequency flickering, the X5 Pro 5G has 1920Hz PWM dimming to protect eyesight during low-light phone usage.
The Chipsets
Based on their internal testing, the POCO X5 Pro 5G’s Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset with advanced TSMC 6nm has an AnTuTu score of 545,093, which even precedes the newly released MediaTek Dimensity 1080. The image signal processor (ISP) achieves two gigapixels per second, and the chipset pushes the camera with AI performance of up to 12 Trillions of Operations Per Second (TOPS).
Meanwhile, the X5 5G is equipped with a Snapdragon 695 chipset along with RAM optional up to 8GB and ROM up to 256GB. Its Dynamic RAM Expansion Technology 3.0 now supports more apps running in the background, which is good news for multitaskers.
The Perfect Shot
POCO promises a 69% improvement for the X5 Pro 5G’s camera compared to previous models, with its flagship 108MP sensor unlocking professional-level photography. The camera will be delivering ultra-high resolution imagery which captures minute detail and colour with a 38% improvement for night mode.
With its 5000mAh battery, the POCO X5 Pro 5G supports more than 5.5 hours of 4K video shooting and with 67W turbo charging, a coffee break is all you need to quickly get a 30% charge in just 7 minutes.
In Malaysia!
The X5-series will be available to purchase from February 9 in two variants: 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB. The X5 Pro 5G will be sold at RM 1,299 and RM 1,499 while the X5 5G will be sold at RM 1,099 and RM 1,199 for each variant respectively. Both X5 series come in blue and black, but the X5 Pro 5G also has a unique yellow colourway while the X5 5G comes in green.
The POCO X5 Pro 5G will be available exclusively on Lazada, whereas the POCO X5 5G will be available exclusively on Shope from February 9 to 15, 2023. From February 16 onwards, both devices will be available on POCO Official stores on Lazada and Shopee. Early birds get a RM 300 discount for the 8GB+256GB variant and RM 200 discount for the 6GB+128GB variant for both models while stocks last.
