Synology Unveils Data Management Trends at Pre-World Backup Day Event

“Synology experienced an impressive 50% market growth last year, driven mainly by the increasing demand from SMBs and enterprises. The surge in demand for Synology’s backup solutions, exceeding 20%, can be attributed to Malaysia’s emergence as a prominent data center hub in the region. This growth has been further fueled by government initiatives encouraging businesses to allocate a greater portion of their IT budget towards security,”
Jason Sin, Country Manager at Synology Malaysia

Synology, a leader in data management and security, held a media event to discuss data security trends in Malaysia ahead of World Backup Day on March 31st. The event highlighted Synology’s solutions for businesses navigating stricter data governance requirements and growing cybersecurity threats.

Synology’s Country Manager, Jason Sin, attributed the company’s 50% market growth to increased demand from businesses, fueled by Malaysia’s rise as a data center hub. He emphasized the importance of data backup solutions, citing a 20% surge in demand.

The event addressed challenges faced by businesses complying with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), including data breach protocols and data subject rights management.

Synology showcased its backup solutions, including Active Backup Suite and Snapshot Replication. These solutions offer features like Secure SignIn for preventing unauthorized access, data recovery for accidental deletion and ransomware attacks, and streamlined data recovery processes.

Sin highlighted three phases of a robust data protection process using Synology’s solutions:

  1. Ransomware Prevention: Secure SignIn strengthens login security using multi-factor authentication.
  2. Centralized Data Protection: Active Backup for Business protects virtual environments, physical servers, and personal computers.
  3. Streamlined Data Recovery: Snapshot Replication allows for quick recovery from accidental deletion or ransomware attacks.

“The landscape of data management and security is rapidly evolving, and businesses need to stay ahead of the trend to ensure compliance and protect sensitive information,” said Jason Sin. “Our event aimed to provide insights into the latest trends and technologies shaping the industry, empowering businesses to safeguard their data effectively.”

Synology presented its full product line, catering to individual users and enterprises. The company looks forward to continued growth and will announce new data management solutions later this year.
