Samsung Revives Classical Masterpieces for Galaxy S26 Ringtone Collection

Samsung Electronics has announced the introduction of two new classical music ringtones for the Galaxy S26 series, blending high-end technology with timeless artistry. By featuring the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, Samsung aims to provide a more immersive and refined listening experience for users’ daily interactions.

A “Nature-Inspired” Sound Philosophy

The new audio additions are rooted in Galaxy’s core sound design concept, “Inspired by Nature”. This philosophy applies to all interaction sounds on the device, from touch tones to alerts.

The selected pieces were chosen for their structural connection to the natural world:

  • Bach’s “Prélude” from Cello Suite No. 1: Chosen for its symmetry and harmony, which Samsung designers say evokes patterns of plant growth and ocean waves.
  • Handel’s “Alla Hornpipe” from Water Music Suite No. 2: Originally performed on the River Thames for King George, this piece is recognized for its flowing rhythm and structured progression.

Both melodies also carry a sense of heritage, having previously served as ringtones during the Anycall era of the 1990s and 2000s.

Global Collaboration at Abbey Road

To ensure premium sound quality, Samsung engaged in an international collaboration. The tracks were recorded at the historic Abbey Road Studios in London by the world-renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The production featured a unique East-West partnership:

  • Recording & Mixing: Handled by Jonathan Allan in London.
  • Mastering: Led by Tae Ho Lee of MiXNBLE in Seoul.
  • Featured Soloist: The Bach piece features a performance by the orchestra’s co-principal cellist, Jonathan Ayling.

Redefining Mobile Alerts

According to Samsung, these ringtones are intended to be more than simple alerts; they are a reflection of a unified sound identity.

“Classical music transcends time and space, resonating deeply with people,” said Myoung Woo Nam, Principal Sound Designer at Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Business. “We hope more users can experience classical music naturally in daily life through Galaxy”.

Samsung intends to continue expanding this consistent sound philosophy across its future product lineup. Behind-the-scenes footage of the recording process is currently available on the official Samsung YouTube channel.
