Huawei Nova 5T: The RM1599 Mid-ranger

Today Huawei had just unveiled their latest mid-range device, the Huawei Nova 5T, complete with a good hardware sheet and an attractive price tag.

The Nova 5T retails for RM1,599 and you’ll have 3 colors to choose from; Black, Midsummer Purple and Crush Blue. Pre-orders commence this 29th August till 5th September, and if you do so within the period you’ll get pre-order bonuses worth RM325, which are Huawei mini speakers and a Huawei SuperCharge in-car charger. Even after the pre-order period, you can still receive the Huawei SuperCharge in-car charger for free.

What specs does it pack?

The Huawei Nova 5T has a lot of us turning heads, with specs that are made available with an attractive price. It starts with having Huawei’s flagship Kirin 980 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB space. This is a sensitive point, as the Nova 5T does not have a microSD card slot, so you’ll have to make do with 128GB.

Cameras

The Nova 5T packs a 48MP rear-camera with an f/1.8 aperture wide-angle lens, a 16MP ultra-wide angle camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor, similar to the still-relevant Honor 20.

In the front, there’s a 32MP selfie camera with f/2.0 hidden in the punch hole on the top left of the device.

Other hardware

For display, the Nova 5T comes with a 6.26″ IPS LCD panel. The battery has a decent 3,750 mAh capacity that’s charged using Huawei’s 22.5W SuperCharger.

A feature wildcard thrown into the mix here is the side-mounter fingerpint scanner, an unusual choice considering more devices are implementing in-display fingerprint scanners.
