HONOR has officially announced the upcoming Malaysian launch of its new foldable flagship, the HONOR Magic V5, set for July 15, 2025. The device is generating considerable buzz for being the world’s slimmest foldable at just 8.8mm, while still delivering high performance in battery, camera, and durability.
The HONOR Magic V5’s slim design is comparable to a 50-cent coin or three bank cards, making it exceptionally portable and comfortable to hold. This addresses a common concern with foldable phones, which often feel bulky.
Uncompromised Battery Life Despite its compact form, the Magic V5 features an industry-leading 5820mAh HONOR Silicon-Carbon Battery. This thin battery, comparable to a business card in thickness, is designed to power the device through a full day of intensive use. It also boasts a larger battery capacity than its rivals. The device supports 66W Wired HONOR SuperCharge, allowing for a full charge in just 40 minutes, and also offers 50W wireless charging. An energy-saving mechanism, the Power Enhanced Chip HONOR E2, further extends battery life.
Enhanced Camera and AI Imaging The HONOR Magic V5 introduces powerful camera features, including a 64MP Periscope Telephoto Camera with up to 100X digital zoom, positioning it as a leader in the foldable market for tele-lenses. New AI Imaging tools, such as AI Super Zoom and AI Enhanced Portrait, are also included. AI Super Zoom enables up to 100X zoom with impressive image sharpness, even at long distances. The AI Enhanced Portrait feature provides optimized close-up portraits at various focal lengths, aiming for studio-quality results. Additionally, the Magic V5 comes with AI Editing tools like AI Cutout, AI Eraser, AI Outpainting, and AI Upscale for post-editing needs.
Durability Without Compromise The HONOR Magic V5 is engineered for durability, featuring the industry’s strongest inner screen, reinforced with Non-Newtonian Fluid technology for better resistance against drops. It also includes AI-powered Foreign Object Detection, which alerts users to particles as small as 0.8mm entering the inner screen.
The outer screen is protected by HONOR Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield, providing superior resistance to scratches and drops. The carbon fiber back casing, made from Aerospace Special Fiber, offers up to 40 times impact resistance.
A significant advancement is the Super Steel Hinge, designed to withstand rigorous daily use. During a media pre-briefing, the Magic V5 successfully held a 35kg dumbbell without bending. The hinge is built to endure 500,000 folding cycles, which translates to 100 folds per day for up to 13 years. Furthermore, the device has IP58 and IP59 dust and water resistance ratings, protecting against splashes and dust, and aiming to prevent issues like screen green lines.
