Where Should I Go?

Of course, it depends on location. Firstly you need to identify where is the closest Service Centre / Drop Off Point to you, and plan your journey there. At this point, there is no need to call and book an appointment beforehand.

Service Centres

Service Centres are able to facilitate a certain level of repairs, while heavier repair jobs that require complex solutions will result in the product being sent to another service centre that have the right tools and parts needed, which means in the event that happens, the initial service centre you sent it to might have to ship your product to another service centre to facilitate repairs due to the above reason. Otherwise, if the service centre does have the skill to repair but lack the replacement part, there’s a chance that they will order it from antoher location and have it sent to them to take care of things from the initial service centre itself.

Drop-Off Point

Drop-Off Points are self explanatory. They’re simply a place where you can drop off your product, collect documentation of that event and they will ship it to a service centre for repair. These points do not perform repairs, and will simply collect and ship your product.

What Do I Need To Bring?

  • The product itself
  • Purchase invoice / receipt

While MSI is able to track warranty based on the product’s serial number itself, you can bring a copy of your invoice/receipt for them to track and check (warranty) faster. You will no need to bring the box or charger for warranty claim (unless the charger is also in need of warranty service). Finally, do identify what problems your product seems to be having. Admin staff will usually write remarks and notes describing the issue, and that starts with you knowing and describing what it is in the first place.

What About Claiming Warranty from the Store I bought It From?

Only some stores would facilitate that service, but in the end, they too will simply send it to the service centre as part of their after-sales service. Going either way is fine, whichever is more convenient for you (such as you sending it to the store you bought it from simply because it’s much closer to you compared to a service centre or drop-off point).

You can only send it to the store you bought it from, they’re not interchangeable! (If you bought from PC Image, go back to PC Image. If it’s from Brightstar, bring it to Brightstar, not any other store!).

If your purchase is from Shopee or Lazada, you simply need to take your product to the service centre/drop-off point directly, be sure to save a screenshot of your purchase from the platform.

Claiming Warranty For Components and Hardware

In order to claim your warranty for components and hardware such as Motherboards and Graphics Cards, your only option is to bring it back to the store you bought it from, including e-commerce (which you should contact. Some Shopee stores are owned and managed by an offline store directly, so you can bring it to their stores for warranty claim i.e if you bought it from PC Image Shopee, you can bring it to PC Image stores, just show your purchase screenshot!).

Will Service Centres and Drop Off Points Accept Claims From Other Countries?

No. Warranty policies are territorial, and therefore only Malaysian purchased products are given the benefit of warranty claims and service.

Can I Pay The Service Centre For Repairs When My Product Is Out Of Warranty?

Yes you can, but it varies from case to case. If your product is too old, there might not be an availability of the spare parts and skill set to perform those repairs. If the parts are indeed available, the service centre staff would immediately provide a quote and timeline to you.
