HONOR today announced the launch of the HONOR Magic V, its first 5G foldable flagship smartphone. The ambitious undertaking showcases a design language that’s familiar yet with enough differences to be a class of its own.
The HONOR Magic V will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 gen 1 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.
What’s the hinge?
The HONOR Magic V utilizes an advanced ultra-slim floating waterdrop hinge, with the sole intent of making the unfolding experience seamless and with minimal gap. It claims to be the thinnest in the market currently and we have every reason to believe it when we see it.
What are the screens?
The HONOR Magic V boasts a 6.45-inch 44° curved OLED display in it’s folded state, showing off a wider 21.3:9 aspect ratio, which would mean it is one of the most flexible and widest outer screen in the market right now. When unfolded, the HONOR Magic V comes with an 7.9 CREASELESS display, with a running refresh rate of 120Hz.
Cameras
The HONOR Magic V comes with a quad-camera array powered by AI with a 50MP rear camera and a 42MP front camera that features Night, HDR, Zoom photos/videos.
Battery and Charging
Sticking with the tried-and-true tradition of large batteries with fast charging, the HONOR Magic V comes with a dual-circuit 4750mAh battery that’s charged up via a 66W HONOR SuperCharge charger, boasting recharging speeds of 50% in just 15 minutes.
Availability
The HONOR Magic V will be available in China in January 18, priced at RMB 9,999 for the 12+256GB version, and RMB 10,999 for the 12+512GB version.
There’s a strong chance of the Magic V coming to Malaysia soon, and we see the device to range from RM 5xxx for 256GB and 6xxx for 512GB.
It comes in Black, Space Silver and Burnt Orange (we would pick this one).
