Taobao Malaysia has announced plans to introduce a Malay-language interface for its app, tentatively scheduled for June. This move aims to enhance the local shopping experience and cater to the increasing demand for cross-border shopping among Malaysian users. The announcement follows a significant surge in the Taobao app’s global popularity, recently becoming the second-most downloaded app in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and ranking first in France. In Malaysia, the app has also reached the second position on the iOS shopping app chart, indicating strong local interest and trust.

Jess Lew, Country Head of Taobao Malaysia, stated that the introduction of the Malay-language interface is a crucial step in Taobao’s localization efforts. This initiative reinforces the platform’s dedication to providing a more accessible, seamless, and worry-free shopping experience for all Malaysian users.

As a cornerstone of China’s e-commerce landscape, Taobao offers a vast array of products and has transformed the shopping habits of hundreds of millions through its immersive and personalized experience. Beyond being just a shopping platform, Taobao serves as a place for users to discover trends, find inspiration, and spark new ideas in their daily lives.
Last September, Taobao launched its English interface in Malaysia, powered by advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology for automatic content translation. The app currently provides bilingual customer service in English and Chinese to help users overcome language barriers and easily explore a wide selection of high-quality products. With English product descriptions, prices in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), and a simplified interface, shopping for Malaysian users has become more convenient.
Supported by Antom and Cainiao, Taobao also provides a robust payment and logistics infrastructure, ensuring seamless and reliable transactions and deliveries. Malaysian users have access to various payment options, including debit cards, credit cards, online banking, e-wallets, and instalment plans. Order tracking is available directly within the app for transparency.
The Taobao app is available for free download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. To learn more about Taobao Malaysia, you can follow them on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X, or log in to the Taobao app today.
